TPE Construction

Every EnviroLeather™ collection starts with an exclusive urethane-based, TPE formulation that was developed to address the health concerns surrounding PVC and to outperform traditional polyurethane faux leather. The result is soft luxurious leather-like material in hundreds of design options that has been proven to work over the last decade.

TPE, or thermoplastic elastomer, is a blend of two or more polymers engineered to impart more elastic properties. There are many different formulations that can be created, each exhibiting different performance properties.

We developed our EnviroLeather™ formulation with superior hydrolytic stability and to withstand heavy traffic and repeated cleaning. We also took care to ensure the product has elastic properties to resist wrinkling in the field so you are able to achieve a beautiful and well-tailored appearance with your furniture and it stays that way long after installation.

Hydrolytic Stability

Hydrolytic stability, as it relates to faux leather is the resistance to degradation when exposed to heat and humidity. Products with poor hydrolytic stability will degrade quickly, resulting in peeling and cracking of the faux leather surface. A material that initially appears durable can quickly age when exposed to heat, humidity and day to day stressors resulting in deterioration much quicker than you would anticipate.
